First Black woman-owned cannabis dispensary in Sacramento opens storefront – ABC10.com KXTV

Crystal Nugs CEO Maisha Bahati started off running a cannabis delivery-only business before recently opening a store on J Street.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Crystal Nugs recently became the fourth cannabis storefront under Sacramento’s Cannabis Opportunity and Equity (CORE) program — and the city’s first Black woman-owned dispensary.

“Knowing that Crystal Nugs is setting a precedent and creating opportunities for others feels truly empowering,” said CEO and co-founder Maisha Bahati. “CORE provided me with close to $200,000 in both grants and loans. That helped substantially with the financial costs incurred for our construction build-out phase of Crystal Nugs.”

Initially launched as a delivery-only cannabis dispensary, Bahati celebrated the storefront’s ribbon-cutting ceremony in recent weeks.

The dispensary on midtown’s J Street now joins three other storefronts opened with the help of the CORE program; The Pocket Dispensary, Off The Charts and Embarc.

According to city officials, the program was launched in 2018 to address communities of color impacted by the War on Drugs and offer them assistance in starting cannabis businesses.

Crystal Nugs first opened in 2019, with Bahati telling ABC10 her dispensary brought a “feminine touch” and crushed stereotypes of

Marijuana in Ohio: Behind the scenes look at how cannabis products are processed – WKRC TV Cincinnati

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Right now in Ohio, the possession of marijuana is legal, but there is nowhere people can legally purchase it.

The timeline for when adults can buy it legally depends on what lawmakers do. For now, Ohioans can only legally purchase marijuana from a medical dispensary if they have a medical license.

A bill passed by the Senate Wednesday night would have allowed for the immediate sale of marijuana at dispensaries for those 21 and older.

On Wednesday, Governor DeWine said he wanted to sign that Senate-approved proposal into law before midnight, but the House adjourned before that could happen.

Thursday morning, people will be able to have it. They will be able to consume it, but they won’t be able to legally buy it. That is a recipe for disaster.” – Gov. Mike DeWine

DeWine said he was concerned about Ohioans getting marijuana off the black market while they wait until they can legally purchase it at a dispensary, where the products are regulated.

But how safe are the products people can purchase at a dispensary? WSYX went behind the scenes and visited a processing facility to see how it’s creating safe products that eventually end up on dispensary shelves.

“What’s

Two cannabis dispensaries in the works in Wheatfield | Local News | lockportjournal.com – Lockport Union-Sun & Journal

With the Town of Wheatfield allowing retail cannabis businesses earlier this year there are two potential dispensaries going through the town’s approval process.

They will not be far from each other, at 3048 Niagara Falls Boulevard and 3176 Niagara Falls Boulevard, according to town documents. They will have separate ownership, Michael Schleicher of Wheatfield and Wesley Streeter of Niagara Falls respectively.

The Wheatfield Building Department said these two applicants are the furthest along in the approval process.

Outside Niagara Falls, the only cannabis dispensaries in Niagara County are on Walmore Road on the Tuscarora Reservation.

In November, the town planning board did site plan review on Streeter’s proposed dispensary. The board did not take any action as it and the town zoning board provided recommendations.

Streeter’s business, WesCareTransportation LLC, was approved for an adult-use retail dispensary license by the state Office of Cannabis Management this past July. Streeter could not be reached for comment on his plan.

Town Supervisor Don MacSwan said that while the town board can have input on the matter, the special use permits for retail marijuana dispensaries only need planning board approval.

Schleicher’s dispensary is under the name Leaf Field LLC. An initial application for a special use permit was

Medical Marijuana Recall Hits Five Colorado Dispensaries | Westword – Westword

A recall for medical marijuana grown and sold by I&S LLC, which does business as Silver Stem Fine Cannabis, has been issued over mold, yeast and aspergillus concerns.

Over 100 harvests of medical marijuana flower, shake and trim produced from April 1, 2022, to July 10 of this year are subject to the recall, according to a December 7 health and safety notice from both Silver Stem and the state Marijuana Enforcement Division and Department of Public Health & Environment.

Eight different harvests from Silver Stem were found to have been contaminated with aspergillus, a specific type of mold, or to have unacceptable levels of total mold and yeast count, the recall notes. The rest of the listed harvests went untested, according to the MED, which considers that marijuana “potentially contaminated.”

“Individuals who possess this affected product should destroy it or return it to the store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. Individuals who experience adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the MED by submitting an MED Reporting Form,” the health and safety notice reads.
