Public meeting held on potential dispensary in Forsyth – WAND

FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) – The first of two public meetings planned to discuss a potential cannabis dispensary coming to Forsyth took place Thursday night.

The Village Board was approached about the possibility of allowing a cannabis dispensary.

The board wanted to hear the thoughts and opinions of residents at the first of two public meetings. The investors were also available to answer questions and provide a presentation.

“We’re really wanting the public to share their thoughts and opinion,” said Jill Applebee, the Forsyth village administrator. “So, each resident, or non-resident, also would have about 3 minutes to say what their thoughts are.”

The next meeting will be held on July 11 at 6 p.m. at the Forsyth Public Library, 268 S Elwood Street.

Applebee said that the village has been approached by five to seven cannabis dispensary companies interested in opening up shop in Forsyth.

If you cannot attend the next meeting but would still like to share your thoughts, email Jill Applebee, the Village Administrator, at japplebee@forsyth-il.gov, and she will pass on your thoughts/questions.
