Columbia’s city council will soon decide if a “comprehensive marijuana dispensary” instead of a hotel can be built near the busy Highway 63 and Stadium Boulevard interchange.

939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy, who publishes Comobuzz.com, reports the developer of the two-acre land next to Zaxby’s and in front of the Holiday Inn Express has decided not to build a four-story hotel there. Murphy reports a one-story 45-hundred foot marijuana dispensary with a drive-through would be built, along with a second building that would be a restaurant and medical office.

Columbia’s planning and zoning commission has unanimously approved the project. It will now head to Columbia’s city council, which will make the final decision.
