RED BANK — The borough’s only currently operating legal weed dispensary now reserves morning hours for medical marijuana patients, after the Asbury P∈ark Press reported a discrepancy to state regulators.
Monteverde Modern Dispensary, which began medical marijuana sales in December, is now serving medical marijuana patients exclusively between 10 a.m. and noon every day, in compliance with an amended memorandum issued by the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission last week.
The commission only approves medical marijuana dispensaries to “expand” into recreational sales if they can prove their existing patient population won’t be affected. Dispensaries must certify to the commission that they have enough inventory and must provide a plan for prioritizing patients, including patient-only parking, checkout registers exclusively reserved for patients, front-of-the-line privileges and a separate patient access phone line.
