Dispensary’s suspension to be lifted as early as Thursday – KDSM

DES MOINES, Iowa — A popular local shop selling CBD and THC products in Des Moines is finishing up a 30-day suspension this week.

On November 14th, the Department of Health and Human Services sent the owner of Despensary a letter saying that the suspension was issued for selling products that did not comply with state guidelines.

HHS said that Despensary’s hemp-based flower products violated the state’s hemp guidelines.

Ashley Hartman, the Chief Strategy Officer for Central Iowa Vapors, said that there is a general misunderstanding of hemp. She defined hemp as cannabis that contains less than 0.3% of THC by dry weight. This differs from marijuana, which is cannabis that has more than 0.3% THC by dry weight.

Under state guidelines, consumable hemp products manufactured and sold in Iowa must contain less than 0.3% total THC to be legal.

Hartman said, “Iowa allows edibles, tinctures, and topicals. However, they do prohibit the sale of vapables and flower.”

Despensary’s Chief Operating Officer Sabrina Bergloff told Axios last month that the dispensary’s products do not violate Iowa hemp laws. They also said that there is a lack of communication from HHS.

HHS wrote in the letter, “Despensary has continually failed to comply with Iowa law, as demonstrated by

Inside the legal fight burning at a Western Mass. dispensary – MassLive.com

The husband and wife team behind a Western Massachusetts cannabis dispensary say the store they built has been unfairly taken from them. The company they once partnered with said the couple has stolen the shop’s brand, logo, website and a significant portion of the staff.

Now, the matter is headed to court.

A lawsuit from Apical, Inc., which holds the licenses for the Easthampton dispensary Fyre Ants and Northampton dispensary EMBR, targets Kot and Leakhena Kasom, who until recently managed the two pot shops.

The couple founded Fyre Ants and say they still own the store’s name and brand.

In 2020, facing strapped finances, the Kasoms said they sought a buyer for two of the four cannabis business licenses they owned and found Panda Solutions Group, which operates cannabis businesses in multiple states.

Under an agreement, they ultimately transferred control of all four licenses to Apical, a subsidiary of Panda Solutions, and temporarily licensed the company to use the Fyre Ants name and brand, Kot Kasom said in an interview.

The sides also agreed that the retail license for the Fyre Ants dispensary would return to the Kasoms by June 2023, he said.

The couple continued working to build out the Easthampton shop, which opened in January

Riverdale-based Good Day Farm dispensary moving to Cantrell office building – Arkansas Times

A SHORT MOVE: Good Day Farm Cantrell is moving to a building near its current location.

The Good Day Farm dispensary on Cantrell Road is moving a short drive from its current storefront to a two-story office building. State regulators signed off on the move at their monthly meeting Wednesday afternoon.

The state Medical Marijuana Commission approved the move of the Good Day Farm outlet, formerly known as Native Green, from 3720 Cantrell to 3600 Cantrell where it will use one floor and about 3,000 square feet of the building, according to commission spokesman Scott Hardin. The dispensary was purchased by Wallis Blair Allen Jr. in September and the name was changed to Good Day Farm Cantrell in October.

On Wednesday, the commission also approved an ownership change at Little Rock cannabis processor Dark Horse Medicinals. The change reduced Howard Jeffrey Stephens’ ownership stake from about 2% to about 1%. No new owners were added with the change and the remaining ownership stake was divided among some existing owners.

The commission voted to table ownership changes at Good Day Farm cultivation in Pine Bluff and Body and Mind dispensary in West Memphis after the commission’s attorney said additional documents were

Working at a dispensary is a learning experience | Cannabis – Tucson Weekly

I’ve been a budtender for nearly three years now — purely by accident. And if this column is any indication, writing is where my heart nests the deepest.

But one pandemic later, paired with a college degree and no job, I found myself working at a dispensary as a budtender. The name still makes me giggle; it makes older folks giggle, too, but, hey, what can you do?

Weed is medicine. Like, actually.

Perhaps this is a “duh” moment, but let me explain. I had heard the musings of the possible medical benefits of cannabis; I knew why my friends and I liked to roll up, but beyond that, the only thing I knew about weed was that it was fun.

But behind the counter, the medical benefits of cannabis are palpable. I meet people who’ve never tried the plant, thanks to years of stigmatization, who are sick, in pain, or unable to sleep. Some people have lost access to heavy opioids, some have just learned they have cancer, some are looking to manage PTSD, and some are looking for a replacement for alcohol.

Pain leaves you anguished.

Legal marijuana dispensary set to open in Allerton on Thursday – News 12 Bronx

Dec 14, 2023, 2:48amUpdated 3h ago

Hush, a new legal marijuana dispensary, is opening up in Allerton.

From THC tinctures and gummies to vapes and sodas, owners Deniz Ozkurt and Levent Ozkurt, who are cousins, hand-picked items for their store on Williamsbridge Road.

They say it’s been a long and bumpy road to finally open up a shop in their home borough. The initial opening was scheduled for the second week of August but a court injunction blocking the state from moving forward with its legal recreational marijuana industry delayed that.

Deniz says they are overwhelmingly happy to finally open on Thursday. Deniz says to be an owner of a cannabis shop means so much because when he was young he got in trouble with the law because of weed.

The owners say this shops will help the neighborhood because the taxes will benefit the community as well as create jobs.

Hush received some pushback from Friends of Pelham Parkway, activists in the community about where they are opening up.

Roxanne Delgado from the organization sent News 12 the following statement:

“On behalf of Friends of Pelham Parkway, I am disappointed that the Office of Cannabis Management did not hear our community’s concerns.  I do

Health officials warn about THC products hundreds of times over legal limit – CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS — There’s a new warning for consumers about illegal high-dose THC products.

Minnesota health officials said they have recently seen products that are hundreds of times above the legal limit.

At Hemp House THC dispensary in Minneapolis’ Wedge neighborhood, you’ll find plenty of the latest drinks and edibles featuring THC.

“We get a lot of customers that are curious about THC,” said general manager Cody Dornbusch.

While products on Hemp House’s shelves get the green light, that’s not the case everywhere.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, they’re finding some products with THC levels way over the legal limit.

“Many of these are not legal, and some very not safe,” said Chris Elvrum, Assistant Director of the Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Medical Cannabis.

In Minnesota, beverages and edibles are allowed to have five milligrams of THC per serving.

The health department said they found close to 40% of THC shops were selling illegal high-dose products, or those that appealed to children.

The department said high-risk THC products are required to be destroyed.

Of the departments 170 inspections, only 25% of shops were found to be fully compliant with the law. The department
