How are things going at Chelsea dispensary Verdi? – newyorkupstate.com

Verdi officially opened its doors on Jan. 26, becoming the first legal adult-use dispensary in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

In its first couple of months, business at the shop hasn’t met expectations, said owner Ellis Soodak. However, he said, they’re just getting started.

In a Q&A with NY Cannabis Insider, Soodak answered questions about what customers are buying, transitioning from the liquor store business to the cannabis industry and challenges in New York’s legal weed industry.

About how much revenue are you seeing on weekdays and weekends? How does that compare to your projections before opening?

It is very weather dependent right now as most of our customers are coming in through foot traffic. We are seeing about $7,000 on slow days and up to $12,000 on busier days. This is quite a bit below our initial projections, but we are just getting started. A big impediment is that we are not showing up on Google Maps when people search “Dispensary near me.”

How many full-time and part-time workers do you employ?

We have about 15 employees.

What kinds of products are selling the most?

Flower, and prerolls make up the biggest chunk, with over 40% of sales. flower, prerolls , vapes and edibles totals over 90% of sales. Interestingly, accessories account

Columbia’s city council will soon decide if a “comprehensive marijuana dispensary” instead of a hotel can be built near the busy Highway 63 and Stadium Boulevard interchange.

939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy, who publishes Comobuzz.com, reports the developer of the two-acre land next to Zaxby’s and in front of the Holiday Inn Express has decided not to build a four-story hotel there. Murphy reports a one-story 45-hundred foot marijuana dispensary with a drive-through would be built, along with a second building that would be a restaurant and medical office.

Columbia’s planning and zoning commission has unanimously approved the project. It will now head to Columbia’s city council, which will make the final decision.

Minnesota may open some of the first government-run cannabis dispensaries in the US – redlakenationnews.com

Minnesota could become the first state in nine years to open cannabis dispensaries that are run by cities and counties.

That’s because of one line in the state’s new cannabis laws that allow for cities and counties to “establish, own and operate a municipal cannabis store.” The law appears to be the first of its kind in the country and has prompted cities to research whether they want to open their own dispensaries.

But there’s only one city that’s been successful with running a cannabis store. The City of North Bonneville in Washington was the first city in the country to open a municipal cannabis dispensary back in 2015, but was no longer operating it as of 2021.

Dot-com bust survivor creates new kind of cannabis dispensary in Roselle – NJBIZ

Listen to this article

As co-founder and former chief executive officer of popular online grocery service FreshDirect, Jason Ackerman went head-to-head with e-commerce giants like Amazon on a daily basis. Now, the Scotch Plains native is taking on a new challenge — establishing himself in New Jersey’s emerging cannabis market.

In launching Joyleaf as the first recreational dispensary in Roselle, Ackerman opened one of the 100-plus legalized storefronts that can now be found across the state.

Ackerman is no stranger to the industry. Following his 2018 departure from FreshDirect, he went on to serve as CEO and executive chairman of cannabis giant TerrAscend, a multistate operator that has nearly 40 dispensaries nationwide, including three in New Jersey (Lodi, Maplewood and Phillipsburg).

Now, he’s tapping into the expertise he gained in each sector to rethink the retail experience so that customers can engage with cannabis in a way that is both comfortable and empowering.

For Ackerman, running a cannabusiness “is not that different” from managing an e-grocery venture. “When you look at it, the merchandising, the growing practices, the product selection practices, the retail practices, knowing who your customer is, communicating to build loyalty and retention of customers is the

Minnesota may open some of the first government-run cannabis dispensaries in the U.S. – St. Paul Pioneer Press

Minnesota could become the first state in nine years to open cannabis dispensaries that are run by cities and counties.

Municipal cannabis stores are of particular interest to local governments in Minnesota that don’t already operate their own liquor stores. In cities like Edina and Isanti, liquor stores serve as a revenue stream that helps reduce taxes for residents and businesses.

Because of conflicts with federal law, other states have shied away from adopting the state-owned liquor store model for cannabis retailers.

“The idea has been floated and rejected in various states, such as New Mexico and New Hampshire. Lawmakers have done so

Bellville sets public meeting for input on marijuana dispensary – Knox Pages

BELLVILLE — The village of Bellville has scheduled a public meeting for community members to voice their opinions on the operation of a marijuana dispensary within village limits.

The meeting will take place March 21 at 5:30 in the Village of Butler’s Community Room, located at 111 W. Elm Street in Butler.

“Thanks goes to Mayor Dingus of Butler for providing a large enough wonderful space to host this meeting,” Bellville Mayor Teri Brenkus wrote in a public notice.

Last year, Ohio-based Standard Wellness applied for a permit to operate a marijuana dispensary on the north edge of the village, near the OH-97/I-71 interchange.

A vote by the village planning commission on whether to grant Standard Wellness a conditional use permit tied 2-2. A few weeks later, village council imposed a six-month moratorium on cannabis sales in January.

The moratorium came after several community members asked council to immediately ban marijuana sales in the village. Council members saying they wanted more community input on the matter.

“We just want the process to slow down so the community has time to hear all the information,”
