Best Selling Pot Dispensary In New Mexico Owes It All To Texas – klaq.com

OK, they may not owe Texas everything but Sunland Park marijuana dispensaries do owe us, esp Governor Abbott, a solid. I’ll take my share in gummies please.

Seriously, Sunland Park has some of the highest … no pun intended … pot sales in the entire land of enchantment. They came in 5th, sales-wise, the very first year which means Sunland Park has some sort of an edge.

Guess who that edge is?  Yep, El Paso. Along with Anthony, Canutillo … pretty much all of west Texas really

Las Cruces has their own dispensaries so, chronic Cruceans aren’t shopping in Sunland Park. (Unless they happen to be there anyway,) Same for Chaparral.  Sunland Park is a hike from northeast El Paso but Chap is right there. Counting Texas $$ even as we speak.

Getting back to Sunland Park, they’re doing so freakin’ well; they’re drawing the attention of big businesses.  Big companies are coming in and making it very difficult for the locals to compete.

How Should Sunland Park Show El Paso (And Texas) Some Love?

I have 2 thoughts. One, name a strain after us … “El Pot-oh” or “Loco Chuco“. “El Pass-o Me That Joint-o” maybe … then, give those of us with local ID’s a

Ex-GOP Lawmaker Opens Cannabis Dispensary In Burlington County – Patch

RIVERSIDE, NJ — Not many go from politics to selling weed. But Scott Rudder has embraced a unique path into cannabis, opening a dispensary in Riverside.

Rudder was on the Medford Township Council from 1998-2008, serving as mayor during his stint. The Republican went on to the State Assembly, representing the 8th legislative district until January 2014.

In the years since, Rudder advocated for the expansion and legalization of medical and recreational cannabis — NJ Advance Media dubbed him the “Mayor of Cannabis” in 2020. Rudder’s newest chapter in the world of weed began last weekend, when Township Green held its soft opening.

The new Riverside dispensary, which Rudder owns and operates, will hold its grand opening at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The event will feature food and beverages, live music and a 20 percent discount for first-time customers.

“Township Green exemplifies what we hoped to achieve by legalizing cannabis in New Jersey,” Rudder said in a news release. “We’re focused not just on providing a great product but on building a sense of community and bringing commerce to downtown Riverside.”

The dispensary will employ about 20 people, most of whom are local residents. William Eliason, Riverside’s retired police chief, will lead a security team that

Survey: 72% of Canadian Cannabis Consumers Buy From Legal Sources

Almost three-quarters of legal cannabis consumers (71.7%) in Canada say they purchase products exclusively from the regulated marketplace, according to a national survey published on March 18.

Recipients listed the following primary reasons for their decision to utilize the legal market:

38% said they buy legal due to concerns about product safety, 16.9% said the legal market was more convenient, and 12.9% said they wanted to follow the law.

The survey found that the most commonly used product types in the previous year were dried cannabis flower (62.1%) followed by infused edibles (57.1%). Notably, cannabis vape pens and cartridges were more popular among younger cannabis consumers while infused topicals and oral cannabis oils were more popular among older consumers, the pollsters wrote. Among consumers aged 25 or older, cannabis flower products were more commonly used by men (70.2%) than women (48.4%).

Additionally, the survey found that more than one-third of people aged 18-24 (38.4%) and 25-44 (34.5%) reported having used cannabis at least once in the 12 months leading up to the survey, compared to just 15.5% of adults aged 45+.

New York Gov. Orders Audit of Cannabis Industry Program

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) has ordered a top-down review of the state’s adult-use cannabis program amid rampant unlicensed sales and multi-month delays to the industry, the Associated Press reports.

For the review, the governor has tasked Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy and other state officials to embed with cannabis industry regulators and identify ways to speed up cannabis licensing and further optimize the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM).

New York legalized cannabis for adults aged 21 and older in 2021 but at the end of 2022, just 80 companies had launched in the state, the report said. The cannabis licensing process faced numerous delays due to a series of lawsuits targeting the industry’s social equity licensing provisions.

“We have built a cannabis market based on equity, and there is a lot to be proud of. At the same time, there is more we can do to improve OCM’s operations and we know Commissioner Moy, a proven leader in government, will help us get where we need to be.” — Chris Alexander, OCM Executive Director, via the AP

Hochul previously labeled the industry’s roll-out a “disaster,” critiquing the slow launch for benefiting unregulated retailers and hamstringing legal operators.

Toronto police arrest suspect in series of cannabis dispensary hold ups – CityNews Toronto

Toronto police officers have arrested a suspect in a series of armed hold ups at cannabis dispensaries.

Investigators believe the same suspect robbed four weed stores between Oct. 16, 2023, and Jan. 8, 2024.

The stores were in the Dundas Street East and Broadview Avenue area, Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area, and St. Clair Avenue West and Jane Street area.

In each instance, investigators allege the suspect walked into a store while wearing a mask to hide his face. He would pose as a customer and walk to the checkout counter, but instead of making a purchase police say he would pull out a handgun and rob the store, leaving with quantities of cash and cannabis.

On Tuesday, March 19, police executed two search warrants related to the investigation, allegedly seizing a gun and drugs.

L’Mar Cecil Greene, 26, of Whitby, was arrested and is facing a total of 21 charges including robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

How LOIs Can Go Horribly Wrong

Table of Contents

Cannabis businesses often use letters of intent (LOIs) to get agreed deal terms in writing before spending time and money negotiating the definitive written contract. LOIs can be a big help, especially with a complicated deal. But they are easy to botch, and can lead to some pretty devastating consequences if not done right.

Be careful for unintended binding LOIs

In the majority of situations, parties to an LOI want them to be fully or partially non-binding. These LOIs are intended only to be outlines of a deal that the parties can use in negotiating finer points. Some provisions may end up being binding, like confidentiality or exclusivity provisions. But the majority of terms are often left to be fleshed out.

The problem is that some LOIs do a pretty bad job of clarifying what is and is not binding. This leads to two pretty bad potential outcomes. First, a provision intended to be binding could be construed as non-binding. Imagine the buyer in a deal wanted the seller locked in to an exclusivity obligation for 60 days after signing, but the LOI didn’t clearly specify that this was a binding obligation (as opposed to

Cannabis Dispensary The Station Could Be Coming to Newark’s South Ironbound Neighborhood – Jersey Digs

A dispensary could be coming to 201 Wright Street in Newark. Courtesy of Guzzo Architects.

The best word to describe the retail cannabis industry in Newark is “unpredictable.” While some dispensaries have opened without so much as a murmur, others came up against considerable opposition. In the case of Raekwon’s Hashtoria lounge that will soon be coming to Broad and Market Street, churchgoers at a nearby house of worship raised hell before the project finally got the go-ahead.

When plans for a new dispensary called The Station near Lincoln Park came before Newark’s Planning Board last week, there was no way to predict how neighbors near its proposed address, 201 Wright Street, would react. In the end, only one resident voiced concern, not about the location of the shop, but about the lack of street parking, which in fairness, is the same concern Newarkers have whenever any new business opens.

The owners of The Station will be renovating an old industrial building. Courtesy of Guzzo Architects.

Instead, the Wright Street resident praised the owner for renovating a run-down historic industrial building.

“We’re looking to put a new storefront here, paint the existing brick, open up some former windows that

The first of its kind.

Nicole Lucien, the owner, said, “Since cannabis recreationally was legalized in New York, we’ve had our eyes set on applying for a license.”

They benefited from a New York state program that prioritizes giving those with criminal histories the first retail licenses to sell marijuana.
