Man arrested after deadly shooting of NW DC dispensary employee during armed robbery – WJLA

WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. man is facing charges for his involvement in a shooting during an armed robbery that killed an employee of a marijuana dispensary in late March, according to Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials.

Officials said on March 27, two people showed handguns as they entered a dispensary in the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The two people demanded property and money.

The victims complied, and during the robbery, one of the suspects fired a shot, hitting an employee before taking money and fleeing the scene, officials said.

The employee – identified as Philip Prendergast, 41, of Silver Spring – was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to officials.

On Monday, May 6, Trenton Collins, 21, of Northwest was arrested and charged with murder, officials said.
