Marijuana dispensaries could be coming to Mansfield – Mansfield News Journal

Mansfield offers the market, population and the workforce to support marijuana dispensaries, according to Amanda Ostrowitz.

“The main thing that is attractive is there’s a large population, and it’s completely unserved with dispensaries. It’s a demand that’s unmet,” she said.

Ostrowitz is a managing partner for SLAP Consulting, a boutique firm specializing in site selection strategy and policy development for cannabis operations across the country.

She advocates for the Cannabist Company, which is interested in opening a recreational facility in Mansfield, not a medical one.

Last week, Mansfield City Council opened the door for marijuana dispensaries to come to the city by rejecting a six-month moratorium on such facilities by a 5-3 margin.

“I was happy with it. I think it was the right decision,” Ostrowitz said.

Angelo Gallo was another interested onlooker. The Mansfield native is the CEO and chairman of Manx Farms Inc. in the Monterey Bay area in California.
