Napa cannabis dispensary opens; city’s ninth – Napa Valley Register

SPARC, a chain of retail cannabis shops, announced the launch of its newest space off Soscol Avenue — which will make it Napa’s ninth dispensary when it officially opens its doors Saturday.

The decision to open on April 20 — 4/20 — was intended to latch onto “the ultimate cannabis holiday,” the company said in a news release, announcing a series of sales on opening day and throughout the month.

According to its website, SPARC opened its first store in 2010 as the San Francisco Patient and Resource Center, providing medical marijuana prior to adult-use legalization in California in 2016. The company has five additional locations in Sonoma County and San Francisco.

“We’re thrilled to bring SPARC’s elevated retail experience to Napa Valley,” Erich Pearson, the company’s CEO and founder, said in a statement. “Our goal is to create a space where customers can explore and discover cannabis products in a relaxed and comfortable setting …”

Napa is the only municipality in the county with pot dispensaries. It is the third to open since city officials agreed to permit retail — as opposed to medicinal — sales in April 2022.
