Vancouver mushroom dispensary police raids – CityNews Vancouver

Vancouver Police Department officers executed search warrants across the city Wednesday, raiding mushroom dispensaries and storefronts that police say sell illegal psychedelic drugs.

The VPD says it searched retail storefronts in Marpole, Mount Pleasant, and Strathcona, seizing controlled substances that it claims were being bought and sold in “bulk to walk-in customers.”

“We have been clear that anyone who breaks the law by illegally trafficking controlled drugs and substances could be arrested and charged with a criminal offence,” Sgt. Steve Addison said in a statement. “This includes people who traffic drugs for profit from unlicensed and illegal retail businesses.”

The VPD says the warrants are “part of an ongoing investigation” and charges will be considered once the investigation is complete.

“Psilocybin is a controlled substance under the federal Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Although exemptions exist in British Columbia for people who possess and consume drugs for personal use, it is illegal to traffic psilocybin and other psychedelic drugs unless an exemption from Health Canada has been obtained, for example, for a clinical trial,” the police said.

CityNews has reached out to store owner Dana Larsen for comment.

The VPD says it will be sharing more information regarding the

Cannabis Dispensary, Fire Department Big Issues in Tuckerton … – The SandPaper

Three seats on the Tuckerton Borough Council appear on the election ballot this fall.

One is for a two-year unexpired term due to the resignation of Councilwoman Suzanne Taylor, necessitated by her moving out of town. The seat was temporarily filled by Michael E. Dupuis Sr. by council appointment. Now, by law, he must run to keep that seat, but he shouldn’t have a problem, considering no challenger arose, so his race is uncontested.

The other two seats, with three-year terms, have attracted three candidates, Republican incumbents Brian Martin and Keith Vreeland and Democratic challenger Robert Challender Jr. People will vote for two.

The candidates were sent identical questionnaires that asked for “personal” information to familiarize the public about them and also for their view on issues.

Let’s look at their responses, in alphabetical order.

Robert Challender Jr. has lived in Tuckerton for 20 years.

He’s married, has six children, and his 16th grandchild is on the way.

He graduated from Maple Shade High School in 1977 and earned a nuclear engineering associate’s degree from Thomas Edison State College in 1991.

Challender has never served in any elected or appointed office.

He’s a member of American Legion Post 493 and

Pineapple Ventures Accused of Hijacking LA Social Equity … – Green Market Report

A dispute over control of a California cannabis dispensary’s social equity license has led to a lawsuit. PNPLXPRESS Inc. and its owner, Joshua Eisenberg, accusing former executive Vincent Mehdizadeh of orchestrating a covert operation to seize the license designed to promote fair industry participation.

Eisenberg contends that Mehdizadeh, who goes by Vincent Zadeh, defied a 2017 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission settlement that prohibited him from serving as an officer of a public company by indirectly managing Pineapple Ventures Inc., which approached Eisenberg’s dispensary for a merger in 2018.

According to the amended complaint filed Friday, after the merger, Eisenberg, who holds a majority stake in PNPLXPRESS, alleged that Zadeh exploited Eisenberg’s eligibility for a social equity license in Los Angeles and made moves to seize control over it for Pineapple Ventures, which wasn’t qualified for the license itself.

The suit claims that Zadeh forced Eisenberg into a management agreement under duress, violating Los Angeles’ cannabis social equity program rules, and accuses Pineapple Ventures of enacting a predatory lease to extract undue profits. It also alleges the doubling lease payments by involving another entity, Pineapple Consolidated, which was purportedly overseen by the same operators.

Eisenberg asserted Pineapple Ventures withheld financial information,
