HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) – Today, the Henderson County Commissioners approved a zoning ordinance for dispensaries in Henderson County.
Kentucky recently passed legislation that allows for cities and counties to decide if they want a medical dispensary in their community.
Henderson City Commissioners decided to approve zoning locations in Henderson to allow people who are in need of medical marijuana.
Mayor Brad Staton spoke with us about the the the next steps needed to take to have it in Henderson.
“It is been proven that this type of medication in ways that other medications can’t.,” he says. “We still wan to preserve the integrity of our community and the family atmosphere that we have here while also allowing doctors to prescribe patients with whatever medicine that they think can help.”
Moving forward, the state will regulate the zoning the dispensaries that want to apply.
