ST. LOUIS—The first day was a breeze.

While Missouri cannabis dispensary workers see progress, marijuana manufacturing employees say they are stuck in a ‘gray area,’ unable to unionize because they may be considered agricultural workers.

Or so Sean Shannon and Danny Foster found out when they walked into several marijuana dispensaries around Missouri with their matching “Union For Cannabis Workers” shirts and talked to employees about the possibility of unionizing.

“The first day, there were 57 stops amongst the teams,” said Shannon, lead organizer for United Food and Commercial Workers Local 655. “Reception was out-of-this-world positive. Workers were so excited.”

Shannon had gathered together a dozen organizers to help Local 655 visit every one of the approximate 100 dispensaries on the eastern half of Missouri—twice.

Stirring up the excitement was the union’s big win of the recent settlement, where 10 Shangri-La South dispensary workers in Columbia received a collective $145,000 after being fired following a March union

Alabama Medical Cannabis Applicant Sues State After Third Licensing Round

An Alabama medical cannabis producer applicant is suing the state after being left out of the most recent licensing round, claiming the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) had unfairly revoked the license it had been approved for in the previous two rounds, according to Alabama Political Reporter. Enchanted Green LLC had placed second in the previous rounds of scoring but had tied for fourth in the most recent licensing round.

In a motion for injunctive relief filed on Monday, the company said to break the tie, the AMCC decided to draw an applicant’s name from a bowl to determine which company would be considered first.

“A staff member of the AMCC reached under the dais and pulled out a bowl. The staff member then held out the bowl to one of the AMCC commissioners, and the commissioner peered (looked) into the bowl and pulled out a piece of paper. The commissioner did not appear to unfold the piece of paper. The commissioner then read from the paper the name of the other processor group that tied for fourth place. There was no evidence that both names … were actually in the bowl prior to the

Verona Collective marijuana dispensary opening in January 2024 – Utica Observer Dispatch

Area residents will be able to purchase marijuana at a dispensary in Verona opening on Jan. 3, 2024.

The dispensary will be the first opened by Verona Collective, an enterprise of the Oneida Indian Nation, at 5250 Willow Place, across the street from the Nation’s Turning Stone Resort & Casino.

The Verona Collective will open a second dispensary in Verona in the spring and more over the next 18 to 24 months, Oneida Indian Nation officials said.

Verona Collective calls itself a seed-to-sale cannabis business, growing marijuana plants at a 50,000-square-foot cultivation facility. It also processes and packages the plants into products on Nation lands.

Job opportunities with Verona Collective

And the Nation wants area residents to know that Verona Collective will be hiring — with preference given to Turning Stone employees. That means getting a job at Turning Stone now is a good way to increase your chances of getting a job at Verona Collective, officials said.

Marijuana laws in Ohio 2023: Where can I buy recreational weed? – The Cincinnati Enquirer

Recreational marijuana is legal in Ohio as of Thursday, but when and where you can buy it remains up in the air.

Voters approved an initiated statute last month, known as Issue 2, that allows adults 21 and older to use and grow cannabis. The measure’s passage made Ohio the 24th state to legalize adult-use marijuana.

Here’s what to know:

Where can I buy recreational marijuana in Ohio now?

Can you go out and buy marijuana?

Not quite.

What cities in Tri-State have temporarily banned recreational marijuana dispensaries? – WLWT Cincinnati

Issue 2 is officially in effect in Ohio, making recreational marijuana legal throughout the state. If you at least 21 you can now grow plants at home and use, but how to actually buy recreational marijuana is still up in the air. But, a new push from Ohio lawmakers could make that easier and quicker than originally expected.Potential customers aren’t the only people in limbo. Medical cultivators and places like king city gardens behind me are also waiting on decisions this morning to kick-start this recreational marijuana industry in Ohio.Late Wednesday night, Ohio senators rushed to approve new regulations and restrictions surrounding Issue Two, with the governor urging lawmakers to take quick action to approve it.The House would still have to approve the bill which includes some big changes.Home grow would be limited to 6 plants instead of the original 12, a process for immediate expungement of marijuana possession convictions upon request, a public smoking ban, plus a tax increase on products from 10 to 15 percent. The bill aims to immediately start sales for recreational marijuana at existing medical dispensaries. This is something we’ve been told wouldn’t happen until next spring or summer time. The State House of Representative still needs

Kent dispensary Bliss Ohio hopes to meet the demand for adult cannabis – Record-Courier

Ohio’s new law allowing adult recreational use of cannabis went effect Thursday, but that doesn’t mean adults could immediately walk into their local dispensary and buy marijuana.

The owners of a medical marijuana dispensary in Kent hope that will be the case in the near future.

Dwayne Siekman, co-owner of Bliss Ohio, said the medical marijuana dispensary planned to apply for license to add adult cannabis to its offerings.

When the law passed, he expected it would take about six months to get a license to sell recreational marijuana to adults.

But on Wednesday, Gov. Mike DeWine said he was backing a proposal in the Ohio Senate to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to begin selling recreational weed to people 21 and older within 90 days after the bill is enacted.

Health for Life Celebrates A Decade in Arizona – High Times

Health for Life (H4L) has been a leader in Arizona’s cannabis industry since their founding a decade ago, making them one of the earliest dispensaries in the state to still be operational. In honor of that milestone, High Times recently spoke to Josh Gile, H4L’s Director of Retail Operations for Arizona, to learn how they are coping with changing regulations and a changing climate in one of the hottest states in America.

Deep Roots in the Grand Canyon State

Gile has been with H4L almost the entire time, since the MPX days, and has seen the business grow and expand across the state. What started with one location in Cave Creek, quickly became a second in Elsworth, both celebrating their ten year anniversaries this fall. H4L has since added locations in Crismon and McDowell, delivers to medical patients around the state, and is vertically integrated to grow and manufacture their own house brand products. In addition to selling their house brands at their own dispensaries, H4L provides “wholesale products to over 50% of the retailers throughout the state.”

While Gile now uses cannabis, he is the first to admit, “I didn’t come from a cannabis background.” He used to work

Two cannabis dispensaries in the works in Wheatfield – Niagara Gazette

With the Town of Wheatfield allowing retail cannabis businesses earlier this year there are two potential dispensaries going through the town’s approval process.

They will not be far from each other, at 3048 and 3176 Niagara Falls Blvd., according to town documents. They will have separate ownership, Michael Schleicher of Wheatfield and Wesley Streeter of Niagara Falls respectively.

The Wheatfield Building Department said these two applicants are the furthest along in the approval process.

Outside Niagara Falls, the only cannabis dispensaries in Niagara County are on Walmore Road on the Tuscarora Reservation.

In November, the town planning board did a site plan review for the proposed 3176 site, previously home to A Little Something Home Decor & Gifts. They did not take any action as they and the town zoning board provided recommendations and requested a site plan.

Streeter’s business, WesCareTransportation LLC, was approved for an adult-use retail dispensary license from the state Office of Cannabis Management this past July. He could not be reached for comment for this story.

Town Supervisor Don MacSwan said that while the town board can have input on the manner, the special use permits for these only need planning board approval.

Schleicher’s dispensary is under the name Leaf

Video with abuse of patient leaked to social networks after quarrel of employees at Kadamjay psychoneurological dispensary

AKIPRESS.COM – A video has spread on social networks which depicts patients being abused in a special institution, the Internal Affairs Directorate of Batken region reported.

The police in Kadamzhai district conducted an inspection based on the video. It was filmed at the Kadamjay psychoneurological dispensary in the winter of 2021.

It was established that force against a patient was used by 62-year-old B.K., who works in psychoneurological dispensary, the police noted. When B.K. was on daily duty, a 32-year-old patient escaped from the dispensary. He found the escapee and decided to intimidate him so that he would not try it again, according to B.K.

The video was distributed on social networks on December 6, after the employees of the Kadamjay psychoneurological dispensary had a quarrel, the regional police reported.

“An investigation is currently underway. A forensic medical examination has been ordered for a 32-year-old patient at the dispensary. The actions of B.K. will be given a legal assessment,” the report says.
