Florida Voter Support for Marijuana Legalization

Recent polls show strong support for marijuana legalization in Florida. About 70% of voters favor the initiative. If passed, this law would allow adults over 21 to buy and have up to 28 grams of cannabis. The initiative faces legal challenges. However, if it succeeds, it could be effective by May 2025. Analysts estimate this could generate between $195.6 million and $431.3 million in annual tax revenue.

Economic and Legal Implications of Cannabis Legalization in Florida

State economists and law enforcement are assessing the impact of cannabis legalization. They expect significant tax revenue from legalization. But, there are concerns about increased traffic incidents and DUIs. The Department of Corrections does not expect a significant decrease in prison numbers from legalization. Recreational marijuana use becomes legal in Ohio next week – NBC Montana

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Recreational marijuana use is legal next week for people 21 and older in Ohio, but that doesn’t mean they can go purchase marijuana from a dispensary without a medical marijuana card.

“Implementing this program quickly is really the best thing for Ohioans,” said Jeff McCourt, CEO and founder of Firelands Scientific and The Landing Dispensary.

McCourt’s company owns five dispensaries in the state, including one in Franklinton.

“Ohio really benefits from having a thoroughly regulated, tested, taxed, safe product already available to medical patients throughout the state,” he said.

McCourt is expecting a smooth expansion into recreational use.

“We’re ready in terms of all of the security regulations, the compliance regulations, testing, the tax mechanisms, all of these things are all pretty much set up already off the backbone of the medical program,” McCourt said.

Still, it could take months or years before people can walk into a dispensary and purchase marijuana for recreational use.

A division in the Department of Commerce first has to set regulations and create the licensing process.

Having the regulated program up and running as quickly as possible, it’s really important to make sure that some of the downsides don’t come, you know, the genie doesn’t come out of

Cannabis dispensary sets eyes on former Graziano’s restaurant site in Niles – Yahoo Finance

Two cannabis companies are working together and seeking to convert the former Graziano’s Brick Oven Pizza in Niles into a dispensary, according to the chief operating officer of one of the companies.

Tim O’Hern, COO of Nature’s Grace and Wellness, told Pioneer Press his company and the Illinois Cannabis Company are working together to open what would be Niles’ second cannabis dispensary. He said while there isn’t a firm timeline and there hasn’t been a decision on what to name the store, he is hoping for a spring or early summer opening.

Candy shop and CBD retailer proposes cannabis dispensary – The Post Star

Andrew Valenza

Cannabis could be coming to Hudson Falls from local entrepreneur Belinda McPhee of McPhee’s Candy Shop.

McPhee recently submitted a site plan to the Hudson Falls planning board for a re-branding of her “Candy Shop,” that would turn the store into a legal cannabis dispensary. The proposed name of the new store is “High Society Dispensary,” and would be in the same location of the candy shop, 345 Main Street, Hudson Falls, N.Y. Currently, the candy shop, sells candy, tobacco and CBD products.

In her application to the planning board, McPhee described the action as an “addition of partition walls so that the old candy shop can be used as a dispensary. All non-load bearing to create additional spaces inside. No outside changes.”

When asked why it was important to expand to cannabis, McPhee told The Post Start that is was so the distribution in the community would be safer.
