I am in full support of the North Canton City Council deciding to keep marijuana dispensaries out of the city limits of North Canton. We all know that marijuana, for private use and cultivation is now legal, with restrictions. Council and Mayor Stephan Wilder’s decision to keep dispensaries out of the city limits is sound judgment.
Marijuana use compromises judgment, affects coordination and the driving of a vehicle very much the same as excessive alcohol consumption. It is simply not a wise thing to do.
Obviously, there will be dispensaries in other areas. We do not need to promote them in our city simply because it is legal. As with Mayor Wilder, I too am a career law enforcement officer, once retired and still working the profession. I hope that the City Council is successful in banning the dispensaries from our beautiful city.
