Kush League, A Fitness-Themed Dispensary, Aims To Open In Portage Park – Block Club Chicago

PORTAGE PARK — Kush League, a sports and fitness-themed dispensary, could be coming to a vacant storefront in Portage Park.

The 1937 Group, a minority-owned cannabis company headquartered in South Shore, wants to open the dispensary at 3645 N. Central Ave., on the ground floor of a recently constructed self-storage complex at the southeast corner of Central and Waveland avenues.

Ambrose Jackson, chairman and CEO of The 1937 Group, said the dispensary would be designed to promote an active lifestyle. There are plans to incorporate a small basketball court and athletic-themed branding into the dispensary that Jackson said would be like the “Nike of cannabis.”

“We want to show people that there is an actual medical and therapeutic benefit to the cannabis plant,” Jackson said. “Our objective is to find fun and unique ways to promote healthy and active living.”
