Ohioans are months – or less – away from being able to purchase marijuana from a state-licensed dispensary after voters approved sales in the November 2023 election.
Under the voter-approved law, only currently operating medical marijuana businesses will be allowed to sell to recreational customers for the first two years. Medical marijuana businesses could begin applying for a recreational license June 7. The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control hasn’t given a timeline for granting licenses to recreational dispensaries; the state has until Sept. 7 to evaluate dispensaries’ plans to comply with state laws and regulations and award licenses.
