Brainerd looks to regulate cannabis dispensaries – Brainerd Dispatch

BRAINERD — With last year’s legalization of recreational marijuana in Minnesota, Brainerd officials are looking to get ahead of demand and create citywide guidelines for cannabis dispensaries in the city.

While city staff have not yet heard from anyone with intentions of opening a dispensary, they’d like to have regulations in place if and when the time comes.

Planning Commission members reviewed proposed language for an ordinance during their meeting Wednesday, March 20. Community Development Director James Kramvik said he reviewed legislation from other municipalities when drafting the language for Brainerd.

Commission Chair Don Gorham asked if there was any guidance from the state Office of Cannabis Management, and Kramvik said it sounds like the department is understaffed at this time and doesn’t plan on issuing statewide regulations on dispensaries any time soon.

Kramvik’s proposal states cannabis dispensaries would only be allowed in six of the city’s zoning districts — General Commercial, Commercial Corridor, Main Street, Town Center, Makers and Employment, and General Industrial. While the Traditional Neighborhood 2 district also allows for commercial use, Kramvik said those areas are excluded from the ordinance, as they are lower traffic areas where a developer is unlikely to spend the $500,000 to $1 million needed

Former Mayor, Assemblyman Opens New Jersey Dispensary – High Times

Former Medford, New Jersey mayor and former New Jersey General Assemblyman Scott Rudder is opening a dispensary in Riverside in his home state. Riverside, a suburb in the greater Philadelphia-Camden area, is a prime location for growth in the cannabis sector.

Rudder, who is Republican, founded the New Jersey CannaBusiness Association in 2016, a leading cannabis trade industry association. He’s also a veteran and helped organize and was a top consultant to statewide campaigns to legalize adult-use cannabis in New Jersey in 2020, and also that year, NJ.com named Rudder the “Mayor of Cannabis.”

Township Green will hold its grand opening today with local officials and dignitaries, including State Senator Troy Singleton, who will take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the state’s most recent cannabis dispensary to open.

“Township Green exemplifies what we hoped to achieve by legalizing cannabis in New Jersey,” said Rudder. “We’re focused not just on providing a great product but on building a sense of community and bringing commerce to downtown Riverside. Please join us on March 25 as we start this new and exciting chapter for the community.”

The reasoning behind the opening of this retail location is to help revitalize and bring more

Delta-8 Illegal to Sell in Arizona Without A Cannabis Dispensary License – AZmarijuana.com

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes recently clarified the legality of hemp-derived substances in Arizona via an official opinion.

The AG was asked: “Does Arizona law permit an entity that is not appropriately licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services (“Health Services”) to sell products containing hemp-synthesized intoxicants like delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol (“THC”), delta-10 THC, or any other product that has been synthetically converted from naturally occurring cannabidiol (“CBD”) or other cannabinoids into intoxicating substances?”

AG Mayes’ response to the question was: “No, Arizona law does not permit the sale of delta-8 and other hemp-synthesized intoxicants by entities that have not been licensed by [Arizona Department of] Health Services. Irrespective of delta-8’s arguable federal legality under the 2018 Agriculture Improvement Act (“Farm Bill”), Arizona continues to define and regulate “industrial hemp” in a manner that precludes the sale of hemp-synthesized intoxicants in convenience stores, smoke shops, and other unlicensed locales.”

Corporation-run Siddha dispensaries in Coimbatore witness rise in footfall – The Hindu

The city’s two Corporation-run dispensaries, located in Town Hall and R.S. Puram, have reported an increase in visitors seeking nutrient supplements and medicines for preventive care. Between April 1, 2023 and March 15, 2024, around 1,300 individuals consulted the dispensaries, compared with 897 in the previous year.

Of this, 63.7 % visited the centre for up to three consultations, as compared to 34% the previous year, according to data provided by the civic body. The dispensaries are located in Town Hall and R. S. Puram.

Shanmugam, the Medical Officer (MO) at the Town Hall dispensary, noted that there has been a rise in patients with diabetes, arthritis, and autoimmune disorders over the past five years. Individuals aged 28 to 55 come seeking medicines for stress management without side effects, reflecting evolving health concerns.

Similar trends were observed at the R.S. Puram dispensary. Dr. Shanmugam attributed the growing preference for traditional medicine to its perceived lack of side effects.

During consultations, MOs at both centres begin by assessing the patient’s Dosha or composition of elements such as air, water, earth, fire and space.

Interestingly, he also highlighted the prevalence of Vatta dominance among individuals in Coimbatore, attributing it to allegedly high-functioning anxiety prevalent in the

6 South Dakota medical cannabis dispensaries host “sign and drive” petition – KEVN

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) – South Dakotans voted to legalize recreational cannabis in 2020, but this amendment was ruled unconstitutional due to a technicality shortly thereafter.

Legalization advocates statewide hope to see this issue on the ballot again in 2024, but for that to happen, they will need some help. Six medical cannabis dispensaries, including Puffy’s Dispensary and Greenlight Dispensary in Rapid City, participated in an initiative to gather the required 17,508 signatures for marijuana legalization to return to the ballot in November.

This event, known as the “Sign and Drive” campaign, allowed supporters to sign the petition outside of these locations without even getting out of their cars.

“I think we talk about freedom. You know, South Dakota’s very big on freedom, said Kittrick Jeffries, owner and CEO of Puffy’s Dispensary. “We’re talking about everybody’s freedom. We’ve seen in the past how prohibition has not worked.”

Mike Green, South Dakota’s partner for Greenlight Dispensary, is confident they will reach their goal.

“We have met every goal and expect to see this on the ballot come November,” said Green.

The deadline for signatures is May 7. Legalization supporters can also sign the petition on the South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws website.

DeKalb city awards $25K grant to NuEra Cannabis dispensary for facade work – Shaw Local News Network

DeKALB – The DeKalb City Council has awarded $25,000 to NuEra Cannabis to help offset costs for some building upgrades underway at the dispensary, 818 W. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb.

The grant was awarded as part of the city’s Architectural Improvement Program, meant to incentivize private redevelopment in commercial areas outside the boundaries of the downtown tax increment financing district.

Laura Jaramillo Bernal, the dispensary’s chief operating officer, said having the city’s support means a lot to NuEra Cannabis, which had a groundbreaking in the Junction Shopping Center in November.

“The construction and structural improvements that have to happen to a building in order to make a dispensary – a highly regulated building, a lot of specific security requirements – it’s a very specific monetary investment,” Jaramillo Bernal said. “Being able to have the support of the city so we can make the best, most attractive, most functional space possible for the city is fantastic. It really also allows us to improve that entire building in a longterm way that even outside of its use as a dispensary is an asset to the city generally.”

Jaramillo Bernal said the city’s grant will be of big help to NuEra Cannabis in meeting its timeline.
