Recreational cannabis now being delivered across the Hudson Valley – News 12 Westchester

Jan 03, 2024, 12:35amUpdated 6h ago

You can now get recreational marijuana delivered almost anywhere in the Hudson Valley.

Two cannabis delivery services just launched over the weekend.

Purple Owl Dispensary and Delivery is accepting orders for delivery anywhere in Westchester County. Big Gas Cannabis, located in Orange County, is delivering to all of Orange and Rockland counties, as well as parts of Dutchess and Ulster counties.

In the coming months, both Purple Owl and Big Gas Dispensaries also hope to open dispensaries for in-person sales.

Meanwhile, in Waywayanda, Orange County Cannabis Dispensary Company just celebrated their soft opening for in-store sales.

Their grand opening is Friday, Dec. 5. They hope to start delivery by March.

All three companies were forced to freeze their operations for four months, while the lawsuit over New York state’s social justice licensing system played out. That lawsuit has since been resolved.

New 2024 laws in Oklahoma focus on medical marijuana – KXII

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Oklahoma has several new laws in 2024, including new restrictions for the state’s medical marijuana industry.

Oklahoma House Representative Josh West said that probably won’t change.

“We still run alcohol bills and we’re gonna be running legislation on this long after I’m out of the legislature,” West said.

SB 1704 allows the OMMA to revoke a marijuana license or business license if someone is selling illegally, and requires anyone working at a dispensary to be credentialed.

HB 3949 changes how marijuana is tested, allowing for process validation.

And HB 3971, co-authored by West, allows the OMMA to use secret shoppers at dispensaries.

West said it was a law that some working, growing, and selling in the marijuana industry wanted.

“People in the industry thought I’m doing the right thing, but there’s all these other people that are not doing the right thing,” West said.

West said these shoppers will make sure dispensaries ask for cards as they’re supposed to, and that what they sell is tested the way it’s supposed to be.

Secret shoppers will purchase a small amount of marijuana and then take it to a random lab for testing.

West said it’s a law for consumer safety.

“They’ll have more confidence that they have a

‘On hold:’ Geneva dispensary to close amid licensing uncertainty – RochesterFirst

GENEVA, N.Y. (WROC) – A business owner planning to grow cannabis operations in Geneva will have to wait longer to do so.

Daryl Hilkert owns High Points Dispensary on Canandaigua Road, and was one of the first CAURD license recipients in the Finger Lakes Region. However, he has not been able to get fully certified yet.

Hilkert opened his doors in November under a state-operated program called the Cannabis Growers Showcase, which expired at the end of the year.

As a result, and without full certification through the CAURD program, he’ll have to stop operating temporarily. Hilkert says he’s not received guidance from the state on how to proceed.

“When the opportunity came up in November to be able to at least open the doors through the Cannabis Growers Showcase program, that’s what we decided to do,” said Hilkert.

Previous lawsuits filed against the state Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) brought pauses for the CAURD program, and recipients of those licenses.

In waiting to get fully certified with the CAURD license he received in June, the temporary program allowed Hilkert to open, and partner with other cultivators and vendors around the state.

Oakland Police Make ‘Several’ Arrests In Connection With Fatal Shooting of Officer Following Dispensary Burglary – SFist

The investigation continues into the tragic killing of an on-duty Oakland police officer last week who was among several officers responding to an alleged cannabis dispensary burglary. And over the holiday weekend, the OPD says it made “several” arrests.

“In collaboration with our law enforcement partners, OPD has made significant progress in the investigation, resulting in several additional arrests over the weekend,” the department said in a press statement Tuesday. “This is just the beginning of a lengthy legal process; we are hopeful that it will start the healing for Officer Le’s grieving family and our entire OPD family.”

“We are all devastated by this senseless act of violence, and our hearts continue to mourn his passing,” the statement added.

According to the department, one of the arrests just occurred in the last 12 hours, but the suspects have not been named.

The shooting happened early in the morning on December 29, and plain-clothed officer Tuan Le was fatally shot, while another officer was shot and sustained an injury. According to Oakland police, the officers did not fire on the suspects, but were themselves fired on in an ambush-style shooting, after they began to pursue the suspects believed involved in the second burglary at

‘Happy Days’ opens in E. Farmingdale as LI’s 2nd recreational pot shop – Newsday

Long Island’s second recreational cannabis dispensary opened its doors Tuesday in East Farmingdale.

Happy Days Dispensary, located on Route 109 near Republic Airport, is also the second state-licensed brick-and-mortar recreational marijuana shop to operate in the same Babylon Town neighborhood following Strain Stars’ opening in July.

“This is beautiful,” customer Nicole Smith said of the 5,300-square-foot space after buying some pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes.

The Lindenhurst resident said she uses marijuana to relieve the effects of multiple sclerosis and help her sleep.

Earlier this month Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Happy Days’ tentative opening date as Dec. 23.

The state’s Office of Cannabis Management said it gave the store the green light to open after an inspection Friday.

But without a town certificate of occupancy, which Happy Days President Paul Lepore said town officials promised Friday, the store couldn’t open until Tuesday.

Matt McDonough, an outside attorney who handles marijuana issues for Babylon, said town hall was closed Friday and paving had to be completed in the store’s parking lot before the certificate could be issued.

Happy Days opened at noon Tuesday, about 30 minutes after getting its certificate of occupancy.

But in the next hour, the store’s more than two dozen employees heavily outnumbered its customers. Lepore said opening date confusion and an intentional lack of advertising led to the sparse clientele.

“We wanted to serve the

ConBud in New York – Taking Social Equity to New Heights – JD Supra

Given the decades of socio-economic damage and incarceration caused by the somehow still ongoing drug war, the long path of righting the countless societal wrongs committed by this nearly 50-year-old failure will consist of many different but equally important steps. Along with expungement measures that were included in the cannabis legislation of massive states such as Illinois and New York, another unique but highly opportunistic way that state lawmakers are trying to amend the colossal wrongs of the drug war is by incorporating social equity applicants into their state’s cannabis application process. With this special distinction, the social equity applicants themselves come from neighborhoods and zip codes that were horribly impacted by the socially unbalanced cannabis prohibition of yesteryear. In many instances, the applicant has been directly affected by the enforcement of that prohibition which frequently resulted in incarceration for either themselves or their family members and friends.

For one dispensary in New York however, the owners, operators and employees are taking the cornerstones and possibilities of social equity to an entirely new level. As one of the first New York social equity dispensaries to receive a Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary license, CONBUD is totally owned and operated on every level
